Countrystyle Arocs

Fast-growing resource management and waste recycling specialist Countrystyle has added the latest Mercedes-Benz trucks to a fleet that has virtually tripled in size within just three years.

The Kent-based company now runs some 150 vehicles, and the overwhelming majority of those commissioned over the last 18 months have worn three-pointed stars.

The latest to arrive via Dealer Sparshatts of Kent are all 32-tonne eight-wheelers from the muscular Arocs range, which was purpose-designed for construction-related applications. They comprise six 3242K models with compactor bodies by Inco-Mol, of Chesterfield, and a single 3243K with Hyva hook loading equipment.

The new trucks are being inspected and serviced by Sparshatts under CharterWay contract hire agreements from Mercedes-Benz Financial Services.

They have lined up alongside previously-acquired 8x4 Arocs refuse vehicles and hook-loaders, as well as tractor units that work with walking floor trailers – most of the tractors are 6x2 Actros models, with the exceptions of a handful of double-drive Arocs versions.

Privately-owned Countrystyle Recycling is committed to diverting waste from landfill. It processes more than 500,000 tonnes of waste per year for over 3,000 businesses and local authorities located in London and across the South-East, as well as serving the general public.

The company’s flagship facility at Ridham, Sittingbourne, provides specialist recycling services for plasterboard, wood and organic waste, (producing sustainable peat-free compost) and manufactures refuse-derived fuels.

Countrystyle also operates waste transfer stations at Strood and Folkestone, a paper, cardboard and plastics baling facility near Maidstone, and centres at customer sites in Buckinghamshire and at New Spitalfields Market, East London.

Commenting on its latest Mercedes-Benz truck orders, Commercial Director Jamie Houston said: “Continued business growth means we needed more dustcarts for our trade waste rounds, and another hook-loader able to handle Ro-Ro bins with capacities of up to 40 cubic yards.

“Mercedes-Benz has accounted for approximately 90% of our fleet purchases over the last 18 months, as we’ve sought not only to extend the fleet but also to reduce our carbon footprint by replacing older vehicles.

“The Arocs and Actros are both high-quality, fit-for-purpose trucks that have proved exceptionally reliable and represent excellent value for money. Our drivers speak very highly of them too, while we receive a first class service from Sparshatts.

“The Dealer’s Sittingbourne workshop is conveniently close to our transport depot and its Truck Sales Executive Martin Kemsley has been helpful throughout our truck-buying and contract hire experience. Martin’s communication and responsiveness to queries, coupled with his knowledge of the product, have proved very useful.”
