Marcol

East Midlands vehicle rental specialist Marcol is going for growth after commissioning 10 Mercedes-Benz Actros tractor units from the Leicester branch of Dealer Mertrux.

Established in 1980, Loughborough-based Marcol has been strengthening its presence in the market over recent months and the new trucks represent a 10% expansion of its fleet.

All are Actros 2545LS models with aerodynamic, flat-floored StreamSpace cabs and 330 kW (450 hp) engines, which drive through smooth and efficient Mercedes PowerShift 3 automated transmissions.

“The business has been growing steadily, mainly through recommendations from satisfied operators who use our trucks,” said Contract Services Manager Joe Ablitt. “We take pride in offering not only the finest customer service, but also the very best vehicles – as these Actros tractor units illustrate.

“To be successful in the rental sector you have to offer the vehicles that operators want to run. We also have some 13-plate Actros that have proved extremely popular. Our customers tell us they are extremely fuel-efficient and great to drive, while they look really smart too.”

Mr Ablitt continued: “Our decision to invest in these trucks has already been vindicated, as half of them were snapped up by customers for long-term hire almost as soon as we took delivery. We knew this would happen, as any truck with a three-pointed star on the front is always going to be in demand.”

Most of Marcol’s vehicles are trucks ranging from 7.5 to 44 tonnes, although the firm also offers vans and cars. It serves customers nationwide and provides everything from comprehensive contract hire agreements to short-term spot rental.

“In the current climate operators need the flexibility to be able to add or remove vehicles at short notice to cope with fluctuations in demand, so that’s what we provide,” added Mr Ablitt.

“We have developed a close working relationship with Mertrux over many years. The Dealer’s approach to customer service mirrors our own and we’re always well looked after.”
